Starting therapy is a courageous step. It can be hard work, so it's important to find a therapist with whom you feel at ease. I provide individual, couple, family and group therapy across the lifespan to co-create mental, emotional and relational wellbeing within our communities. I strive to create an environment of trust and acceptance where you can feel safe talking about difficult issues.
Life is about relationships, to ourselves, others, and the world. So often we are searching for deep and meaningful connections, only to fall short because our internal relationship with ourselves is lost. Perhaps we are struggling with identity, disconnection from our bodies, our breath and our families/communities, loneliness, spiritual suffering, trauma, depression -the list can go on as there are any number of things that impact us as humans on this earth.
My approach to therapy with clients comes from a place of genuineness, empathy, and acceptance. I tend to the mind, body, and the complex set of interactions we face in relationships. I collaborate with my clients on a journey of self-discovery to uncover a narrative of their relationships, beliefs, experiences, and behaviors. My approach is relational in nature, with a systemic, feminist, LGBTQ+ affirmative and experiential approach using movement and creative processes as tools to help clients achieve their desired goals and focus in therapy. With an understanding and awareness of social and political disparity as underlying causes of conflict within a family system, I work from a social justice perspective of how these influence the therapy process and support in order to avoid perpetuating hidden oppression, biases and cultural stereotypes and to model an egalitarian perspective of healthy family & individual relationships.
Working with couples, my approach is to serve the relationship, therefore giving each individual equitable stake in working on goals to improve the relationship and reconnect. I am Prepare/Enrich Certified Facilitator and open to seeing couples for Pre-Marital Counseling for a discount on their state marriage license. You can find more information of this great resource here.
I love my work as a therapist/healer and am fascinated by the dynamics, hope, and struggle that make up human relationships.
